Fall has made her way to the NW all mixed up with sunshine, rain showers and changing leaves.  I've been spending these last few weeks putting the final details together for my European tour and trying to fill up on extra squeezes from my little guy.  It will be the longest time I have spent away from him and my heart already hurts.  But, I also know I'm going to have a fantastic time performing so many beautiful places, seeing old friends and meeting new people.

As a small send off, I'm performing this Sunday at Hattie's Hat in Ballard as part of a songwriter showcase hosted by local artist, Kubby Casual.  I'll be playing a short set of my songs with the Back Door Trio (Kubby Casual on drums, Sander Vinberg on upright bass and Paul Beaudry on mandolin). This is a free show and music starts at 8pm.

Then on October 6th, Rob, Dave and I board a plane and head to Europe for a full month of shows throughout Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.  If you know anyone in these three countries, please forward our tour dates below. We are playing a lot of new cities this time around and it's always nice to meet fabulous people who know you fabulous people!  I'll be posting photos and tour tidbits on my website, facebook, twitter and instagram pages so be sure to check in often.

I'm off to rehearsal and then extra hug and play time with Ryder.  Thank you all for being here with me and thank you for letting me into your day for a few precious moments.
smooches!

Hello hello! I hope you all are enjoying a beautiful summer.  It's been beautiful here in Seattle and I've been enjoying all this amazing sunshine and fabulous weather earning where all the cool kiddo water parks in the city are hiding. I am also learning that not only does my little guy love water, he loves running.  Yes, his walking quickly moved to running so now he runs everywhere.  And I mean, everywhere.  So before he wakes up and starts our mini marathon of the day I want to tell you about our tour in Europe this fall!

Rob, Dave and I are getting very excited to travel to Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands in October and getting to perform for all of you again.  We are filling dates up fast, but we do have a few dates open that we would LOVE to fill with house concerts.  If you are interested in hosting, please contact me and let's chat soon.  They are so easy and such a wonderfully intimate way to hear and share music with your friends and family.  And if you have a venue you would like us to perform in, please email me the name and I will contact them.

And please make sure to take a look at our schedule below and mark in your calendars when we will be in your city.  We'd love to see some familiar faces.  And please forward this schedule along to your friends and family.  We love meeting new people!

I hear my little guy waking from his nap, so I'm off and running.  Thank you all for being here with me and thank you for letting me into your day for a few precious moments.  I am a lucky girl to have you all on this adventure with me and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  See you all this fall!

smooches,
carrie

Happy spring and tour dates in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands for fall

Happy Spring! It seems that just a few days ago it was winter and now without even blinking here we are in spring!  I hope you all are doing well and enjoying the sunshine as it starts to peek it's way out of the clouds and bring it's warmth to the day.  I've been putting in a lot of Momma hours and when I'm not chasing after a newly walking 11 month old, I'm booking my Europe tour for October!  I feel like I need some super-powered-multi-tasking-blasto-mega super hero to keep my head on straight.  I have managed to only lock myself out of the house and my car once (fortunately with baby in my arms, not locked inside) and I've only forgotten to leave the house with non-essential clothing items (i.e. all my bits were covered) so overall I think I am doing pretty well in this new split role of Momma and Musician.    And speaking of a European tour, Dave, Rob and I are so very excited to perform for all of you again.

Hi everyone!  It's been a crazy few months since I last wrote and there is someone I would like for you all to meet.... The newest member of the Lonesome Lovers, please welcome, Ryder Lawrence Novelli, born April 20th at 6:05am weighing 8.7 pounds and measuring 20 inches.  I am so so so very much in love with this little guy and can't wait for you all to meet him.  I posted a few pictures below so you can see his sweet face.

With all this time off basking in this new world of Mommyland, I wanted to let you know I do have some shows coming up....

For those of you in and around Seattle...
The Lonesome Lovers and I will be back performing starting August 21st at Shoreline Concerts in the Park!  I hope you can join us for this free all ages event.

And for those of you in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands or in Arizona, Californa, New Mexico and Oregon....
I'll be in Europe October/November 2014 and the SW in May 2014.  If you are interested in hosting a house concert on a weekend or a smaller event during the week (dessert and song) please contact me and we can chat about how you can have me perform for you and your friends right in your own living room or back yard.

I hear Ryder waking up so I better run!  Hoping you all are enjoying the beginnings of summer and I look forward to seeing you all soon!

European Tour Part Drie, drei, trois

What an amazing adventure!  I can't even put to words the experience that Dave, Rob and I had over in Europe.  We met so many wonderful people, saw so many familiar faces and had such an amazing time performing familiar and not so familiar venues.  Here's the last of our tour and it is jam packed so grab a cup of coffee, tea, or a cocktail and settle in, we have a lot to share from this last adventure....
Picture
First stop on our double show day after driving six and a half hours the lovely 300 year old Tapperij de Zwaan in Heeze, NL.

Picture
A favorite spot to play in Eindhoven, De Groot and so many familiar faces, thank you folks!

Picture
Welcome to Sommerda!

Picture
It was also our first castle stop and the beginning of our ad

Picture
One of our two days off was spent in Haarlem catching up on coffee, laundry, sunshine and a big family dinner with my Dutch Mom and Dad, Paul, Yvonne and the fabulous Camille Bloom!

Picture
And the fabulous folks at Piano!

Picture
Next stop for our double show day was In De Brouwerij in Asten, NL with a few familiar faces and our most enthusiastic sing-a-longs.

Picture
On the road again back to where we just were in SE Germany.  Beautiful country roads and a 7 mile tunnel.

Picture
More castle chasing....

Picture
900 year old Wartburg castle in Eisenach.

Picture
Spotted a castle from the road so castle chasers must investigate...

Picture
A small but incredibly amazing audience including two women who drove 300 miles to hear us & Rob's friend Sage who drove over 4 hours (one way) to see us.  Thank you ladies and sweet Sage!!

Picture
Next and final stop in SE Germany,Weimar, the city of poets and of course a beautiful castle.

Picture
Morning breakfast at our favorite Pension and all it's tropical goodness.  It was also the place of our first serenade which later became a trend...

Picture
Next stop Antwerp and one of my favorite venues, Crossroads, in their beautiful new space and lots of smiling faces!

Picture
We were all excited to check out the museum, but after making the journey cross town, we found it closed.  Sad sigh.

Picture
To complete our day off, Paul took us to Jopen Brewery in Haarlem which is in an old church.  We got to sample 14 beers and the bartender gave us the rundown on each of them.  As you can see, the samples were not small and the beers were very very yummy!

Picture
We walked right up to the windmills which were HUGE!

Picture
Closing in on the end of our tour and it wouldn't be complete without a show in Amsterdam and a stop at the Int Aepjen (the monkey) one of the oldest bars in the city.

Picture
Hotel La Truite d'Argent where we had our final show in Belgium, a great audience and an after party that went until 3am.  Our most eclectic audience made up of folks from Holland, Belgium, Germany and a couple from Nebraska.  We said thank you and cheers in French, German, Dutch and English.

Picture
Sporting my new Dutch red boots with my Dutch Momma, Yvonne.

Picture
Smiling faces at Schorsch'l.

Picture
It was full of dolls, scary, old dolls...

Picture
The boys and I with our fabulous German booking agent, Willi!  Thank you Willi! Such a cool space and our bartender Kermit was amazing!  Thank you Londoner!

Picture
And gorgeous historical theater.

Picture
On to Weimar but first a stop at a castle we've driven by at least 3 times.  It was off the beaten path, but well worth it.

Picture
Post show with Suzy and Jan getting the lowdown on the best Belgian beers and where to find the best Belgian chocolate.

Picture
But we did get sunshine and a photo in front of a canal.

Picture
Market day in south Haarlem for cheese to take home.  We also drove to see the North Sea and the windmills that are on a platform out in the ocean.  Too windy to hang out for long, but it was really pretty.  To complete the day, we performed at the Cultuurhuis.  A beautiful theater space in Heerlen, NL.  A fabulous day!

Picture
And then to Koln to see the cathedral. You can wander around all around.  Another day of sun and today is Assention day as well as father's day so there are herds of tourists and herds of men who are pub hopping some wear matching clothes or hats for their group.

Picture
Fans old and new at the student run cafe in Amsterdam, SKEK, which has amazing food and fabulous drinks.

Picture
Our fabulous hosts, Henja and Bob.  If you every find your way to Belgium and want to stay at an amazing place, please stop in, they are wonderful!

Picture
Officially heading home and wishing we had more than a layover in Iceland.

Picture
And of course we must visit the Bach Museum that showcased various instruments he played including a violin trumpet.  Yes both a violin and a trumpet.  Cool!

Picture
Bye bye Gotha!

Picture
Another fine night, thank you Beatcorner!

Picture
1000 years old mostly in ruins, but really really cool and from the top of the tower you could see the other 2 castles on hills surrounding.  There was also ruins on the castle grounds of roman pillar remains.

Picture
Our second and final day off this tour was a sunny day in Antwerp!  First stop De Kathedral which was jam packed full of tourists from a cruise ship and our first experience of hearing English accents all over the place.

Picture
And Dave found a yacht named after him.

Picture
Back to Germany for our final show in Linnich in a tiny tiny little village surrounded by windmills and yellow flowers.  Special thanks to our friends from Kult+Genuss who made the trip to come see us again.

Picture
That's right, CCLL on tour!

Picture
Late lunch in a pub where we had a neighboring table of older Father's singing songs whenever they got a round of drinks. Then a group of women came in and songs were exchanged back and forth between the two groups.  We were serenaded as we left the pub. Best serenade of the tour!

Picture
Final road trip through amazing farmlands to the French part of Belgium and the beautiful town of Houffalize.

Picture
And our final show of the tour at De Waag in the city where it all began, in Haarlem.  Words can't describe how wonderful this final show was.  Thank you all so much!

Picture
Next time, Reykjavík!

European Red Boots Tour Part Een (one)

4/24/2012

Hi Everybody!  I made it to Europe and my Red Boots Tour has officially started!  I have my red boots with me and I'm realizing my poor boots are getting tired from all the travelling they have been doing with me over the last 6 years (they may even need a band aid or two before this tour is over), but I'm having an amazing time seeing all my favorite sites here in the Netherlands.  I have so much to tell you I hope I can fit it all in during the short time I have to write so here it goes, you might want to hold on to something, it's a whirlwind and I've just started....

A few things I have learned just in my first week of being back in the Netherlands.... Equipment rental means coffee and long chats about politics before deciding what equipment is best for your tour.  There is just as much construction on the roads here as there is back home and that means my GPS and I are having a heck of a time navigating ourselves to and from.  So far in my first week I only managed to make it one place without getting lost.  I hope to get better with my directions.... Spring means tulips everywhere and the most amazing scarves!  And now for a few photos....
Picture
All packed up and ready to roll, even got my last Seattle coffee in hand.  Please notice it is iced because of the sunshine I was about to leave behind...

Picture
Officially in Holland and catching a fast glimpse of my first windmill for this tour.  I've got serious butterflies already multiplying in my belly!  Did I mention I couldn't get my rental car in reverse or the window down to ask for help?

Picture
The view from my keyboard at my first show of the tour at Paddy O'Ryans in Leeuwarden, NL.

Picture
Pay attention gentlemen!

Picture
My view of Cafe Briljant in Haarlem.  I played the house piano, Betsy and got to see some familiar faces from the last couple tours (thank you Ronald!).

Picture
The fabulous audience at Jouke and Rudolf's house concert in Capelle aan den IJssel, NL.  Thank you so much everyone!!!  I had an amazing night!

Picture

Picture
Fish nibbling feet

Picture
Haarlem, just one of my Holland homes.

Picture
My first and only glimpse of Iceland.  Next trip I need to stop and have more time to see this amazing country.

Picture
Beautiful tulips are everywhere!!  This is what they look like when driving by at 120 km.

Picture
The first group of folks to buy my cd.  Thank you Miria, Peter and friends!

Picture
The leaning clock tower in Leeuwarden.

Picture
This is the fabulous Eric Devries who hosts Ramble on Tuesdays, amazing shows in various cities in the Netherlands.  We were performing in the Kargadoor in Utrecht.  I wasn't able to take a photo of the audience because the Kargadoor is below ground and like a cave so it was too dark.  I also learned that Utrecht is very difficult to drive around in.  Even with my GPS (now named Edgar so I can curse at him when he gets me lost) I was turned around for a good hour.  But the view of the city was amazing!

Picture
My Dutch Momma and Poppa took me to the Haarlem flower festival on my day off and it was amazing!  All of these floats are made entirely of flowers.  They smell and look beautiful!

Picture

Picture
A really really really big boat going through a very very small canal!  The foot bridges rotate so the boats can go by which is crazy to watch.

Picture
Bike riding back "home" with my Dutch Momma and Poppa, Yvonne and Paul Bohme.  Stay tuned for more in part twee (two)...

I'm sticking close to home for the next few months for shows in and around the state of Washington, but I will be doing a little bit of traveling in March to OREGON which I will announce just as soon as I am able.  And for your folks overseas in EUROPE our spring tour is getting rather full of fabulous shows in venues all over Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.  I'll announce dates in the next couple months.

And with that I thank you all so so so much for being here and for being so so so fabulously and deliciously important to me and my being.  I'm off to summon my biggest and loudest singing voice followed by some serious dance moves (probably something pogo like from the 80's cause I hear the 80's are making a come back). Thank you for reading to the end, thank you for being on this list and thank you for being such an amazing source of inspiration to me.  I feel so very lucky to have such wonderful people to share this musical journey with.

Happy sparkly New Year!
