Hi Folks!  We just played our last show here in Seattle at the Triple Door and what an amazing evening!  I'm now officially on hiatus to wait for our little boy bundle of joy who is scheduled to arrive sometime around April 20th.

Drop me a note anytime and I'll be sure to post some photos of our little guy just as soon as I am able.

Thank you all for checking in from time to time, for being on this journey with me and for supporting musicians like myself.  Without fabulous people like you, I couldn't do what I do.

much love,
carrie

Happy February and Happy Happy Birthday to all my fellow Aquarians! Yes, I love February!  Not only because it is my birthday month but also because it is a short little month usually sparked with unpredictable weather, a charge in the air and then just like that, spring is just around the corner.  This month my hubby and I had a pre-baby vacation in Hawaii where we basked in sunshine with our toes in the sand watching humpback whales dancing on the horizon.  It was peaceful and relaxing and I'm finding that between my bouts of pure panic that someone in the very near future will call me Mom, I also feel a sense of excitement that this little life inside of me is going to change my world in a lot of very wonderful ways.

Our show countdown to Mommy world is getting smaller by the day so I'll get right to it and let you know where we'll be in the next few weeks.  For those of you near Seattle, don't forget to mark your calendars for our last show here at the Triple Door on Sunday, March 3rd.  Tickets are available now and I highly suggest getting yours ahead (see link below). You wouldn't want to miss out on seeing this belly which is sure to be quite sizable by then (remember earlier when I mentioned the whales?).

Happy sparkly new year everyone! I don't know what it is like in your neck of the woods, but the northwest has been extra sunny sparkly in the beginning of this brand spanking new year!  I hope you all enjoyed the holidays with your nearest and dearest and are feeling the rejuvenation and excitement that comes with the beginning of something new.   There is definitely a spark of excitement in our world and it takes shape of a very special little side project I have been working on the last few months that I'd like to tell you all about.  Drum roll please.........

I've got a bun in the oven and my hubby and I are very excited to meet this little bundle of joy in April.  How's that for a little news and excitement!  I'm nervous, excited, anxious, overwhelmed, excited, nervous did I mention a bit anxious?  In preparation for our little bundle of love, I'll be playing just a few select shows close to home and then I will be taking a few months to get ready for our little guy to arrive (yup! We are having a little boy!).  For those of you in the SW and over in Europe, it means I won't get to visit with you this year, but I am already making plans to be back in your neck of the woods in 2014.  For those of you here in the NW region, I've got a few shows coming up including one very special event I hope you can save the date for as it will be a grand and glamorous night with each and every one of the Lonesome Lovers in tow... Please save the date!  Sunday, March 3rd at the Triple Door Main Stage!

I'll keep in touch with you all over the next few months to let you know how our little family is doing.  I'll miss seeing many of your faces this year, but you can be certain I'll have lots of stories and some new songs to share with you when I see you next.

Hi folks, I apologize for the added newsletter this month, but so much has been added and changed that I didn't want you to miss a thing!  First and foremost a little bad news, Jill Cohn has come down with a terrible cold and will not make the show this Friday at Egan's.  The good news, my fabulously talented friends, Sue Corcoran and Vincent Gates (aka The Von Piglet Family Players) have offered to jump in so they will be joining me instead!  You'll love their songs, their fabulous harmonies and who knows, if you ask nicely, it's possible we could be persuaded to sing you a few old songs from the Looking for Sailors days :)  Please join us, it's going to be a really wonderful night!

And these two shows just added!!
For you radio fans, I'll be performing on KBCS 91.9FM Bellevue at 2pm Friday afternoon before the show.  Listen in!  http://kbcs.fm

Saturday, I'll be crossing over to the east side of the bridge, to open for my friends, the Side Project, for their CD release party at Top Shelf Broiler (formerly Olive You).

Venue details and information follow below and I very much hope to see your smiling faces this Friday, Saturday or sometime very very soon!  Oh yes!  And one last thing, please tell your friends.  The more the merrier!

The grey and the rain have made their way to the NW with fall blowing through faster than I can find my rain powered puddle stomping boots.  I had a ball touring though the SW and will be celebrating my return here in Seattle with a homecoming show at Egan's in Ballard Friday, November 16th.  For those of you here in town, you can hear first hand about some of my favorite highlights from the road as well as an announcement about a little side project I have been working on.

For those of you who can't come to the show or just want to hear first tales first,  here are my highlights from this year's SW Fall Boots Tour.  It includes some of the most wonderful house concerts I've had the honor of performing, a few of my favorite venues all throughout the SW, some new favorite spots and a long list of familiar faces that came to shows, put me up, fed me and showed me a whole lot of love.  These photos are just a small sample of the tour with quite a few places left out due to my excitement to chat with folks and completely forgetting to take photos.  I hope you enjoy....
Picture
First stop, Portland's Shaker and Vine where I got to play a cozy set opening for my friends, Willow and the Embers.

Picture
Willow and I post show.  Me heading out on tour and Willow heading home from tour.  My next stop was Roseburg, Oregon where the freeway was packed full U of O Duck fans heading to the game and entertaining me with their extravagant car decorations.

Picture
Amazing sunny and warm day in Laguna Beach where I got to spend the morning walking on the ocean.  It's also where I saw the funniest sign  on tour "Naked co-ed volleyball at 2pm today cancelled due to lack of balls." Bummer huh!

This year's house concert at the Page's in Bosque Farms, no gloves or winter coat required!  Photo by Loch Page.

Where the road is windy, curvy and downright beautiful!

Performing at Genghis Cohen in Los Angeles.  It was an extra special night shared with my fellow friends and songwriters, Nicole Torres, Jill Cohn and Camille Bloom.  Photo by Holly Smith.

Picture
I spent the morning checking out the boats in Alameda...

Picture
You can't see them, but the bay is FULL of sailboats and motor boats.

Picture
While I was crawling through town I did get to see Super Man on stilts.

Picture
4000 miles was quickly forgotten (sorry Oakland) I officially left California and entered Oregon.

Picture
Not officially home, but my tour is officially complete.  Thank you everyone for such an amazing few weeks.  See you all again soon!

Picture
Willow and the Embers in action.  Their new album, Radio Sky, is beautiful and kept me sane during my long hours driving.  Perfect for quiet windy roads under the stars.

Picture
Hit 1000 miles on I5 just before LA, had a glamourous meal in the Whole Foods parking lot before an amazing show at the Marine Room with Beth Fitchet Wood.  I also got to stay with good friends Jolie and Devon.  Their big dog welcomed me in the morning!

Picture
Officially leaving California and making my way to Arizona and crossed 2000 miles in Scottsdale.  Arizona is full of tourist stops for meteorites, Montezuma's well, and beautiful cactus covered hills.

Picture
And post show caramel apples hand picked, hand dipped and even the sticks were hand crafted. And did I mentione there was homemade strawberry cheesecake?  I had it for dinner and breakfast. Yummy!

Picture
Hey check it out, I'm still driving!

Picture
On my day off, I took the scenic drive from Flagstaff to Sedona through the Oak Creek Canyon...

Picture
3000 miles somewhere on I17 in somewhere Arizona.... I got caught in some crazy road work where I was held up for a few minutes until a truck could go by.  I was given the go ahead by a large man who curtsied and then waved me through.  Most definitely a first and had me smiling the rest of the day.

Picture
Back in the Bay area and homemade pancakes!  Thank you Zara!

Picture
It was quite the weekend in the bay area with Fleet Week, America's Cup, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass and the Giants games.

Picture
Crossing the Bay Bridge to San Francisco....

Picture
Another glamourous moment of a touring artist, cold mac and cheese in the car for pre-show dinner.

Picture
Opting for another out of the way, windy, curvy, mountain road I found this one that took me from Ashland to Bend.

Picture
Post tour memory.... I got to go to my very first pumpkin patch at a farm that had the biggest pigs I've seen since I was a kid.  Not a bad way to wrap up a tour.  Oink!

Summer has flashed, sparkled and sizzled her way right into September and while it's time to prepare for fall, rain coats and cooler weather, I have just one thing on my mind!  I'm headed your way!  That's right!  All you folks in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Oregon, in just a couple weeks my fall boots and I will embark on a 5000 mile journey through your neck of the woods and and back again and I'm hoping to get to see as many of you as possible.  And please oh please tell your family, friends, baristas, bartenders, neighbors, co-workers and random strangers about these shows.  That goes the same for you folks who might have friends in these SW states, it's just little ol' me out here trying to get the word out so your help is so very greatly appreciated.

And be sure to check the whole schedule as I'll be traveling through most states on the way out and on my way back.   So let's dive right into where I'll be performing and how we can meet up (venue specifics can be found on my Shows page).

What an amazing adventure!  I can't even put to words the experience that Dave, Rob and I had over in Europe.  We met so many wonderful people, saw so many familiar faces and had such an amazing time performing familiar and not so familiar venues.  Here's the last of our tour and it is jam packed so grab a cup of coffee, tea, or a cocktail and settle in, we have a lot to share from this last adventure....
Picture
First stop on our double show day after driving six and a half hours the lovely 300 year old Tapperij de Zwaan in Heeze, NL.

Picture
A favorite spot to play in Eindhoven, De Groot and so many familiar faces, thank you folks!

Picture
Welcome to Sommerda!

Picture
It was also our first castle stop and the beginning of our ad

Picture
One of our two days off was spent in Haarlem catching up on coffee, laundry, sunshine and a big family dinner with my Dutch Mom and Dad, Paul, Yvonne and the fabulous Camille Bloom!

Picture
And the fabulous folks at Piano!

Picture
Next stop for our double show day was In De Brouwerij in Asten, NL with a few familiar faces and our most enthusiastic sing-a-longs.

Picture
On the road again back to where we just were in SE Germany.  Beautiful country roads and a 7 mile tunnel.

Picture
More castle chasing....

Picture
900 year old Wartburg castle in Eisenach.

Picture
Spotted a castle from the road so castle chasers must investigate...

Picture
A small but incredibly amazing audience including two women who drove 300 miles to hear us & Rob's friend Sage who drove over 4 hours (one way) to see us.  Thank you ladies and sweet Sage!!

Picture
Next and final stop in SE Germany,Weimar, the city of poets and of course a beautiful castle.

Picture
Morning breakfast at our favorite Pension and all it's tropical goodness.  It was also the place of our first serenade which later became a trend...

Picture
Next stop Antwerp and one of my favorite venues, Crossroads, in their beautiful new space and lots of smiling faces!

Picture
We were all excited to check out the museum, but after making the journey cross town, we found it closed.  Sad sigh.

Picture
To complete our day off, Paul took us to Jopen Brewery in Haarlem which is in an old church.  We got to sample 14 beers and the bartender gave us the rundown on each of them.  As you can see, the samples were not small and the beers were very very yummy!

Picture
We walked right up to the windmills which were HUGE!

Picture
Closing in on the end of our tour and it wouldn't be complete without a show in Amsterdam and a stop at the Int Aepjen (the monkey) one of the oldest bars in the city.

Picture
Hotel La Truite d'Argent where we had our final show in Belgium, a great audience and an after party that went until 3am.  Our most eclectic audience made up of folks from Holland, Belgium, Germany and a couple from Nebraska.  We said thank you and cheers in French, German, Dutch and English.

Picture
Sporting my new Dutch red boots with my Dutch Momma, Yvonne.

Picture
Smiling faces at Schorsch'l.

Picture
It was full of dolls, scary, old dolls...

Picture
The boys and I with our fabulous German booking agent, Willi!  Thank you Willi! Such a cool space and our bartender Kermit was amazing!  Thank you Londoner!

Picture
And gorgeous historical theater.

Picture
On to Weimar but first a stop at a castle we've driven by at least 3 times.  It was off the beaten path, but well worth it.

Picture
Post show with Suzy and Jan getting the lowdown on the best Belgian beers and where to find the best Belgian chocolate.

Picture
But we did get sunshine and a photo in front of a canal.

Picture
Market day in south Haarlem for cheese to take home.  We also drove to see the North Sea and the windmills that are on a platform out in the ocean.  Too windy to hang out for long, but it was really pretty.  To complete the day, we performed at the Cultuurhuis.  A beautiful theater space in Heerlen, NL.  A fabulous day!

Picture
And then to Koln to see the cathedral. You can wander around all around.  Another day of sun and today is Assention day as well as father's day so there are herds of tourists and herds of men who are pub hopping some wear matching clothes or hats for their group.

Picture
Fans old and new at the student run cafe in Amsterdam, SKEK, which has amazing food and fabulous drinks.

Picture
Our fabulous hosts, Henja and Bob.  If you every find your way to Belgium and want to stay at an amazing place, please stop in, they are wonderful!

Picture
Officially heading home and wishing we had more than a layover in Iceland.

Picture
And of course we must visit the Bach Museum that showcased various instruments he played including a violin trumpet.  Yes both a violin and a trumpet.  Cool!

Picture
Bye bye Gotha!

Picture
Another fine night, thank you Beatcorner!

Picture
1000 years old mostly in ruins, but really really cool and from the top of the tower you could see the other 2 castles on hills surrounding.  There was also ruins on the castle grounds of roman pillar remains.

Picture
Our second and final day off this tour was a sunny day in Antwerp!  First stop De Kathedral which was jam packed full of tourists from a cruise ship and our first experience of hearing English accents all over the place.

Picture
And Dave found a yacht named after him.

Picture
Back to Germany for our final show in Linnich in a tiny tiny little village surrounded by windmills and yellow flowers.  Special thanks to our friends from Kult+Genuss who made the trip to come see us again.

Picture
That's right, CCLL on tour!

Picture
Late lunch in a pub where we had a neighboring table of older Father's singing songs whenever they got a round of drinks. Then a group of women came in and songs were exchanged back and forth between the two groups.  We were serenaded as we left the pub. Best serenade of the tour!

Picture
Final road trip through amazing farmlands to the French part of Belgium and the beautiful town of Houffalize.

Picture
And our final show of the tour at De Waag in the city where it all began, in Haarlem.  Words can't describe how wonderful this final show was.  Thank you all so much!

Picture
Next time, Reykjavík!
